Heard "American Pie" and "We Didn't Start the Fire" on the radio while out, and…

Self-indulgent boomer stuff. We really missed out on some great stuff with Richie Valens' death, the other two were good but very much the past generation's music, even tho not that much older. And McLean clearly is more of a Buddy Holly.

Didn't Start the Fire is >50% media garbage up to the '70s, and then the only media mentioned are Punk Rock & Heavy Metal, which clearly Billy feared, and Wheel of Fortune πŸ™„

This has been your "punk Mark reviews easy listening music" moment.

Jesus fucking H christ on a dildo. The most-loathed book of a past generation inflicted on later children?

At least Dickens had some murders and ghosts, and characters who did something interesting, just dull and drawn-out because he was literally paid by the word.

Salinger has no excuse, no wonder he lived in hiding afterwards.
